Seek Him, Thursday, December 10, 2009

Reading: Psalm 34:4-6, 10, 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. 6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. 10 The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.

Just take a minute and think through your morning routine. What do you normally seek out? Morning coffee? Breakfast? The newspaper? The news? In the evenings and weekends, what do you seek out? Sports games? Computer games? Spending time with friends? Your favorite TV shows?

What do you seek out?

Think through your typical day or week. What could you not do without (certain foods/snacks, certain activity, certain TV show, etc.)?

How often do you seek Christ through the day?

I wonder if you would miss time spent with God or be as disappointed as you would the TV show or sports game that you did not DVR or forgot to watch. Reread the verses above; notice, we tend to focus and desire the benefits listed, deliver us from all our fears, never be ashamed, saved from all our troubles and don’t lack anything. But, the question is, how passionately do you seek Him? How passionately do you desire to spend time with Him? How much do you miss Him when you have not taken the opportunity to spend time with Him? The way we should be treating our day is as a child in Disneyland with people all around and the sense of urgency when they are not able to see their parents visibly coupled with the nervousness of being “lost” without their parents. That should be our constant walk with God today.

Challenge: Seek God today, all day long. Long to hear from Him.
