Help!, Wednesday, January 13, 2010

Reading: Hebrews 13:1 & 2, 1Keep on loving each other as brothers. 2Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

Where would a man go for help in his time of great need? A church perhaps? It was in fact IN a church of all places where I witnessed a brother in Christ not being treated in love. During a church choir rehearsal, a strange man stepped into the back of the sanctuary bringing the rehearsal to an abrupt halt. He was shooed by several members for interrupting, upon requesting a ride to a nearby city to get his car. I immediately followed the man outside when he walked out to apologize and offer him his ride, only to find that he was nowhere to be found. He quite literally disappeared. Was he perhaps an angel, or was God trying to get our attention; mine in particular? This passage of scripture could not have been more real to me, than that night.

Do you always try to help those in need?

What are some things that have kept you from doing so?

Can you recall a time that you had an opportunity but were too busy or had something else which kept you from helping the one in need, possibly missing an opportunity to “entertain” God’s angels? Please share.

How can you not only look for someone in need but seek them out today?

Challenge: Whatever that may be, reach out today.

REVIEW

How were you able to reach out to someone in need today?

How were you able to overcome your inhibitions to accomplish this?
